OverviewThe Quranic figure Dhul'Qarnayn is indeed a mysterious figure. As a result, every community familiar with his story claim him as their own. Christians claim him as Alexander the Great, Arabs claim him as a King of Himyar, Persians claim him as Cyrus the Great or Darius I, Chinese claim his as Yu the Great, and even certain Jews claim him as Messiah ben Youssef. I maintain all peoples share a common heritage with Dhul'Qarnayn, that is through Hammurabi. King Hammurabi virtually ruled the habitable world in the last decade of his reign. Through a meticulous historical analysis, this book will attempt to demonstrate that the Quranic figure Dhul'Qarnayn is King Hammurabi. Moreover, will attempt to demonstrate the al-raqim in Quran 18:9 is the Hammurabi Code. My thesis is to reveal the identity of Dhul'Qarnayn and al-raqim so that the brief Quranic passage can be used as a historical reference to better understand the historical King Hammurabi. I will offer a new perspective because the historical records of Hammurabi were largely discovered in the early twentieth century. Thirteen hundred years prior, Islamic scholarship was not able to offer this perspective until now. I hope this work will be helpful to historians and students of the Quran.
