Overview

In the shrouded village of Veil, people born with the ability to manipulate the Energy of the world have lived in peaceful seclusion for centuries. Contact with the outside world of Reality is strictly forbidden for all but Riders, the elite warrior class. As an apprentice Source Mage, Lani is destined to create the portals between worlds but never traverse them firsthand-until she inadvertently binds her Energy to Real-worlder Rand. Kimiye (pronounced Kimmy-eh, as a good Japanese Canadian name should be) was born and raised in the suburbs outside of Vancouver, Canada. Guided by a series of well-intended blunders, she traveled extensively, lived in multiple countries, and became a well-respected teacher of English as a Foreign Language.
