Fantastic book and Bible study! The authenticity displayed by both Laura and Angela is nothing short of amazing. Both are honest, direct, skilled writers who speak of their deepest challenges and traumas--and how they have overcome them! It is intensely refreshing to experience this level of forthrightness regarding difficult topics--childhood trauma, professional and personal insecurities, fears of external threats and internal enemies. Everyone I know who has participated in this course and/or read the study responds in the same way You mean I'm not alone?!!!. You are not crazy; we all face these struggles because we live in a fallen world and are trying to find our way home to God. Laura and Angela not only describe that core struggle beautifully and clearly, they give us a host of concrete, easy-to-understand tools which allow us to make progress toward a deeper relationship with God. Their worksheets and exercises are incredibly helpful. As Angela puts it, when she read certain Bible verses--such as do not be afraid, she felt like I'd like to do that, Lord, but HOW?! I remember the same feeling--like standing in front of a giant cliff and being told Climb it! It was totally paralyzing because I had no idea how to accomplish it. This Bible study points out handholds and footholds on the cliff. Moving slowly, thoughtfully through each of them, altitude is gained on the cliff. Now I feel much nearer the summit and I must say the view is amazing! I am so grateful to these two for sharing their hard-won wisdom and insight.
