Unrepentant Cinema - Films of Flesh and Blood

Overview

When it comes to being a lifelong horror fan it can be pretty difficult to find a movie that will leave me disturbed or even, dare I say it, a little scared. In that same life I've met people who are similar to me: long term horror fans that need something a little 'harder'. However, when we've found that 'something' it's surprising that it's the same movies that have left an impact on our usually jaded minds. This book is about those films. Something so unrelenting, so unforgiving, so unrepentant that you just know it's 'got' you. You might not flinch during one of the many Saw movies yet you've just watched something that not only made you flinch, but you feel mentally and physically ill. It stays with you long after viewing, in your mind you relive the most unsettling moments at night when trying to sleep. However, it's something you'll never forget viewing (even when and where) amongst the countless horror flicks and cult cinema you watch year on year. The movies featured in this book are the ones you tell your friends about because you know they'll be shocked to hear of a film that even you think is 'scary'. From I Spit on Your Grave to The Human Centipede, Unrepentant Cinema examines feature films that have gained a reputation amongst the hardcore horror community for a variety of reasons. This entails talking about scenes depicting a lot of taboo and upsetting topics: necrophiliac, incest, rape, torture, abuse, murder, 'snuff movies' and more will be covered. While the themes are controversial I do try to make sure things don't get too dark. But, if you're reading a book that has Faces of Death and Nekromantik in it then you're more than aware of these issues already.
