Unraveling and Rising -from the Ashes of the Past

Overview

Poems that rise from the in-between, where light and shadow meet, where grief sits beside joy, and where life's mess becomes a kind of beauty. Phoenix Rainbow Butterfly writes as someone who has carried, reclaimed, and claimed labels: Black Indigenous American, born in 1st full gen post-segregation in the Deep South; mom; wife; daughter; NeurosSparky; disabled; non-binary; yet always reaching toward a deeper belonging that transcends every box. With language that cuts and soothes, she explores loss, resilience, and healing while rebuilding their life reparenting self and becoming a better parent each day. These poems invite readers to pause, breathe, and remember their shared wholeness.

Author Information

Phoenix Rainbow Sparrow-Harris Butterfly is a spiritualist grounded in the earth, creatix reborn, griot, spouse, mom, and chronic disease disability warrior who's learned to laugh in the mess. A former educator of 20 years and former clinical psychologist in training, chronic illness rerouted, but didn't end their path in late 2022. Grateful to be alive, Phoenix now creates to alchemize chaos into beauty, grief into presence, and fragments into something whole. Phoenix believes broken pieces make the brightest mosaics and that each day is a chance to grow, heal, and keep becoming.
