Overview

For several years whenever the author came across a new word while reading, he would note it his journal and look up the meaning. Some of these words were familiar but their true meaning not fully understood. Some were totally new. This book is a review of some of those words. Some are included with definitions, some with Wikipedia explanations. I expect many will not be new to every reader but he hopes some will be. The author also included quotes from various sources, mostly books, which also made it into his journals. In addition to these, he added some verse. It is subtitled A Bathroom Book for obvious reasons.

Phillip Maguire is an Emergency Medicine physician and self-proclaimed Zen Baptist. He is the father of four (G, G, B, B) living in south central Pennsylvania. His hobbies include bicycling, gardening, cooking and creative writing. His short stories and poems have been published in print and online. His collection of short stories and poems, Thunder Under Water, DreamWords, and poetry, Reversed, Haiku, Senyru & Tanka and the novella, The Lost Journal are available at Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com. He has written shit for many years, stacks of it on dusty shelves. His words can be found in landfills and Laundromat trashcans throughout the nation. One sentence is preserved in salt vinegar in the Library of Congress. He has written extensively about his personal experiences, omitting the truth. As a translator, he produced a faithful version of Joyce's Ulysses in Neolithic petroglyphs. Once while writing in Alsace-Lorraine he wrote a multisyllabic word so large it tipped the continent.
