Ungoverned Spaces in Nigeria: Rural Banditry, Boko Haram and the Battle for Sovereignty

Overview

The rise of ungoverned spaces in Nigeria has led to an urgent security crisis, in which violence perpetrated by non-state actors and organised crime has become a major threat to the stability of one of Africa's most dynamic nations. Defining and examining these new dangerous spaces in Nigeria, this books brings together a broad range of academics and security experts seeking to understand what has led to their proliferation, and what can be done to regain control.
