Overview

This book describes many of the mistakes people make in preparation for their retirement, and the steps one can take to either avoid or overcome those mistakes. These mistakes include such things as misusing tax-deferred investments, or not calculating one's expected income and expenses once retired. Uncommon Wisdom provides answers to those questions and helps the reader avoid many of the mistakes that can, and frankly do, diminish one's lifestyle in retirement. It also provides questions you should ask of any financial advisor before deciding to hiring him (her). Written in the easy-going style of the author, this is a book of practical solutions, not technical explanations. Being an easy read, we hope you'll enjoy it.

Author Information

Noel B. Swain, CFP(R) has been in financial services practice since 1984, when he started selling mutual funds and life insurance. Slowly migrating to total financial planning, he earned his CFP(R) credential in 1994. Noel enjoys all aspects of the practice of financial planning, but he most relishes his meetings with his clients or prospective clients. He enjoys listening to their stories and working with them on the creative process of building a plan that is unique to that person or couple. After being in private practice for almost forty years and participating in thousands of meetings, Noel has worked with just about every personality type. This book, which is written for people who are one to fifteen years from that golden day, is the culmination of all that time and all that experience.
