Uncommon Ground: Guided Activities for Moms Raising Kids to Thrive Across Race, Culture & Other Lines of Difference

Overview

Every mom wants to raise kind, wise, and open-hearted kids. But in a world that is rapidly changing, where by 2045 America will be a richly multicultural nation, our parenting must evolve to prepare children not just to exist in difference-but to thrive in it. Uncommon Ground is for moms who want to raise children who are multiculturally fluent and confident engaging across race, culture, and identity. This guide acknowledges that most children grow up surrounded by sameness in their neighborhoods, schools, social circles, and even in their family's daily routines. These well-meaning environments can unintentionally teach our kids that safety lies in sameness and ""different"" equals ""danger."" But we, as mothers, have the power to lovingly rewrite that narrative. Through daily prompts, reflection questions, child-friendly activities, and gentle progress check-ins, Uncommon Ground becomes a trusted tool to guide moms in having age-appropriate conversations and creating simple, yet powerful, experiences that shape a new worldview-one that embraces difference, values equity, and fosters empathy. Because the future your child is inheriting will be beautifully diverse. Let's prepare them to walk confidently into it.
