OverviewYou have been living inside a version of yourself that was built for survival. Not for freedom. The fear holding you back did not start with you. It was handed down - carefully, sometimes lovingly - through generations of people who learned that staying small was the only way to stay safe. That is not weakness. That is inheritance. And inheritance, once named, can be interrupted. Unchained Mind: A Liberation Philosophy for Breaking Generational Fear and Reclaiming Divine Purpose is the book for anyone who has ever felt held back by something they could not fully name - a hesitation that went deeper than circumstance, a fear that did not belong to this lifetime, a dream that kept getting quietly talked back down to something more realistic. THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE FEAR Drawing on epigenetics, neuroplasticity, and liberation theology, author Amercia Morris shows how intergenerational trauma is transmitted biologically - not just culturally. The anxiety you wake up with may not have originated in your own lifetime. The hesitation before you build something, the voice that says what's the point, the refusal to believe that what you dream is actually available to you - these may be the biological residue of people who loved you and could not protect you from what they themselves could not name. Grounded in the social sciences and research on historical trauma, structural inequality, and health disparities, Unchained Mind brings scholarship into language anyone can use. THE FRAMEWORK Name It - Identify the inherited fear narratives shaping your identity and decisions. Feel It - Move through grief and stored trauma instead of around it. Heal It - Reclaim your identity through daily neurological reprogramming and I AM practices. Rise - Step into purpose-driven leadership rooted in healing, not survival. WHERE THIS BOOK COMES FROM Written from Buffalo's East Side and from thirty years of living with the questions left behind by gun violence, systemic loss, and a community that deserved more than it was given. In 1995, the author's brother Marcus was shot and killed at sixteen. The church said he deserved it. The newspaper wrote about him without asking the family. A nine-year-old girl started asking questions that took thirty years to answer. This book is those answers. About the Author Amercia Morris is a Buffalo, New York-based author, educator, and community advocate whose work explores intergenerational trauma, liberation philosophy, community healing, and health disparities affecting Black women. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the WNY Community Impact Collective - a nonprofit serving Buffalo's East Side through healing workshops, youth programming, literacy initiatives, social and civic engagement, and other forms of community empowerment and education - and the founder of Luxorae. Unchained Mind is her ninth book and the fullest expression of the liberation framework she has spent thirty years building. Nothing in your life has been wasted. You are not at the beginning of your story. You are at the beginning of your freedom. Ideal for readers of Resmaa Menakem, Iyanla Vanzant, and Brené Brown.
