She has traveled extensively, including places such as Sri Lanka, India, and Italy, and is often commissioned by hostels along the way to create large murals. She hopes her works will live on, spread joy and inspiration, and highlight the small moments that make life meaningful. She lives and works in Berlin and Leipzig. Maria José Ferrada (Chile, 1977) is a journalist and writer. Her books have been translated into twenty languages. She has obtained, among other literary recognitions, the Cervantes Chico Libero-American Prize, the SM Ibero-American Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature, the Ciudad de Orihuela Poetry Pirze, the Hispanic-American Prize for Poetry for Children, and the New Horizons Prize from the Bologna Children's Book Fair.
