Reviews

The book comprises an essential reference for researchers and graduate students working in ultrasonic or electromagnetic NDE. The different chapters contributed by recognized experts in the field cover both fundamental theory as well as current research areas. -Dr. Paul Fromme, University College London, UK Professor Kundu is to be congratulated for bringing together this list of experts, each with many years of experience, as contributors to this much needed book. The book provides a comprehensive and rigorous approach of the fundamentals of linear and nonlinear ultrasonics and electromagnetic methods, including a chapter on the newly emerging THz technique. The book also provides enough advanced engineering and biological applications to make the reader familiar with these technologies, including applications of guided waves, nonlinear ultrasonics, laser-ultrasonics, acoustic microscopy, and fiber optics. This makes this book an excellent text for a senior/first-year graduate course in nondestructive testing and evaluation, or as a text in a course in engineering and biological materials characterization. It is also an excellent reference book for practicing engineers and scientists, and I highly recommend it. -Henrique Reis, Department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA The authors present theory and applications in details for the readers to appreciate the challenges involved and opportunities for significant advancement. Adequate references are included for further exploration. Overall, some of the chapters in this book are a good reference source of information on the state-of-the-art of current researches. They will be very useful to graduate students and researchers. --Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Vol. 134, No. 2, August 2013 The book comprises an essential reference for researchers and graduate students working in ultrasonic or electromagnetic NDE.
