He has written about the outdoors for more than 30 years. A member of New York’s Explorer Club, he is an avid adventurer with several first descents to his credit. His passion for travelling, writing and paddling has taken him around the world, to more than 30 countries on six continents. Jason Smith was Managing Editor of Canoe & Kayak UK. A river running whitewater paddler at heart, he's paddled all over the world and represented Great Britain at the Freestyle World Championships. He has tried his hand at nearly every kind of canoeing and kayaking: his favourite pastimes are getting trashed in his playboat at the whitewater course in Nottingham, sea kayaking and open canoeing. James Weir is a canoeist, photographer and writer. He represented Great Britain in white water canoeing and was seeded in the top 10 white water canoeists in the World.
