Rodney began writing in the early 1990s while in Cork. Being dyslexic, he first experimented with wordplay poems before turning to drama in 2004, when he became involved with the Cork Arts Theatre. There he wrote Over the Top and Birds Still Fly, his first plays, later published by Amaurea Press as Two Plays of War and Peace.
