Overview

This book was first written for the author's grandchildren. Kate watched Australian Noisy Miner birds build a nest in her garden and began taking photographs of the nest being built, the baby birds in the nest, how other birds from the flock protected the nestlings, the birds leaving the nest and the fledglings leaving her garden.

Author Information

Kate Grieve is from Queensland, Australia. She lives in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Kate is a graduate of the University of Queensland in Occupational Therapy. She loved working with children with special needs. Now she is a grandmother and loves to spend time with her grandchildren. Her garden brings joy to her as well. It has native trees and shrubs and attracts wild birds. Her garden provided the inspiration for this book. My name is Pawel (the Polish cognate of Paul) and I'm a freelance illustrator based in Poznań, Poland. When I was a small boy, my father showed me a ballpen-made portrait - I've been drawing ever since. Being self-taught, I barely ever leave my pencil behind, wanting to be a better artist. Working almost my entire life in IT business has given me an interesting perspective on art, and at the same time equipped me with some skills that are helping me out with my art work. Coming from two such distant worlds is both advantage and a challenge which I take happily, having a great motivation from my family, especially from my beautiful wife Joanna.
