OverviewIn a military operation that ran from autumn 2013 to summer 2014, a multinational naval force managed to remove approx. 1,300 tons of chemical weapons and substances from civil war-torn Syria. The operation was led by Danish naval officer Torben Mikkelsen. This book is based on the diary he wrote during the six months he was in command of the Danish-Norwegian-British force. The book provides a frank and honest insight into the work of a naval officer in the 21st century and the challenges inherent in conducting a multinational operation at a time of increasing tensions between the worlds great powers. The book is illustrated with more than 100 maps and photographs, the majority of which have not been published before.
