Twin Stars: A Story of Mercy and Ascension

Overview

Amon is trekking through the forest, seeking solitude as he nears the end of his guilt-ridden life. A hunter who has lost his family and been crippled through a landslide, he is spiritually broken thinking that he could have changed the course of events. He comes across a wounded wolf - a mortal enemy of his village - and decides to help the wolf recover. Amon and the wolf, Kwewu, build trust and mutual respect over the weeks as Amon tells the wolf stories of his culture and traditions while the wolf heals. Problems arise when the villagers discover the wolf. Amon and Kwewu provide meaningful lessons for the villagers as they transcend to become twin stars in the night sky. At its core, Twin Stars is a story about what we owe to one another, and to the world we share with all living things. It asks whether mercy is a luxury we can afford only in times of plenty, or whether it is precisely in our darkest moments that compassion becomes most essential. It explores the idea that healing is not a solitary act but a shared journey, and that sometimes the broken must recognize their own reflection in another's suffering before they can begin to mend.We invite you to walk with Amon and Kwewu through the high country, to sit with them in the aspen clearing, and to witness their ascension into something greater than themselves. May you find in their story a reflection of your own journey, the wounds you carry, the bridges you've built, and the light that enters through the cracks.

Author Information

Katie's journey as a storyteller began in the classroom, where she spent years as a high school English literature teacher, introducing young minds to the transformative power of narrative. She later brought that same passion to a national stage as a language arts consultant for a major publisher, helping shape how stories are taught and understood across the country. But perhaps her deepest connection to storytelling came through her family's art gallery, where she immersed herself in Native American culture and art-a legacy passed down from her parents that taught her to see the sacred in every thread of the human experience.A graduate of Oklahoma State University, Katie brings to her writing a rare combination of literary excellence and cultural reverence. Her years of teaching literature gave her an intimate understanding of how stories shape us, while her work with Native American art taught her to honor the spiritual dimensions of narrative. In her collaboration with Michael, she is the architect of emotional truth-the one who ensures that every character's journey resonates with authenticity and heart.Katie has found the perfect landscape for the stories she and Michael create together. The high desert, with its ancient pueblos and timeless vistas, mirrors the mythic quality of their work. In Twin Stars, her gift for capturing the intimate moments of grief, doubt, and redemption anchors Amon's transformation in a truth that readers can feel in their bones. Michael's path to storytelling was anything but conventional. With a PhD in Marketing from The University of Texas, he spent 32 years as a marketing executive in the high-tech industry, navigating the fast-paced world of innovation and strategy. But when he retired from that career, he wasn't done yet-he spent another 20 years as a marketing professor, sharing his expertise with the next generation of thinkers and leaders. It was only after this second retirement that he and Katie embarked on their most ambitious project yet: writing novels that explore the deepest questions of what it means to be human.Michael's academic and business background might seem far removed from the spiritual landscapes of Twin Stars, but in truth, it's the perfect complement to Katie's literary sensibility. His years of strategic thinking and philosophical inquiry give their work a structural elegance and intellectual depth that elevates the narrative beyond simple storytelling. He is the one who weaves the philosophical scaffolding-the ten lessons, the cosmological framework, the contemplative rhythm that invites readers to sit with difficult questions rather than rush toward easy answers.Together with Katie, Michael has found a new calling in the mountains of Santa Fe, where the thin air and vast horizons seem to invite reflection on the eternal. In Twin Stars, his contribution is the spiritual architecture that transforms Amon's journey from a personal story into a meditation on mercy, interconnectedness, and the bridges we build across the divides that separate us.
