Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationJULES VERNE (1828-1905), was a French writer and pioneer of science fiction, is best known today for TWENTY THOUSAND LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA(1870) and AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS (1873). He was born in Nantes, France and as a child, ran off to be a cabin boy on a merchant ship but was caught and returned to his parents. After being sent to Paris to study law, he soon dropped out and his father cut him off. This forced Verne to make money by selling his stories. He published his first novel, FIVE WEEKS IN A BALLOON, in 1863. BRYAN HITCH is a renowned comic book artist and co-creator and artist behind both THE AUTHORITY and THE ULTIMATES. MARVEL Comics Editor-in-Chief, Joe Quesada attributed much of the current popularity of comics in the movies to the style of Bryan's work.
