Author Information

Michael is an experienced biology and physical science teacher and instructor with extensive experience in public and private secondary schools and colleges in New York State. As a college instructor, he began as an adjunct lecturer teaching microbiology, general biology, anatomy and physiology and quickly attained the rank of assistant professor at several colleges with responsibility for teaching, organizing curricula, setting up microbiology laboratories and planning microbiology laboratory courses. Throughout his teaching career, Michael has had the privilege of attending lectures, research seminars and journal clubs on a variety of research topics at The Rockefeller University in New York City. Michael participated in research projects at the same institution for over 20 years. He has assisted on and coauthored several peer-reviewed papers. Michael is a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the American Society for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the National Education Association (NEA). He has also been elected to membership in two honorary scientific societies: the New York Academy of Science and the Rockefeller University Chapter of Sigma Xi, a worldwide honorary society for research scientists. Michael's hobbies include science writing, garden design, architectural woodworking and auto mechanics. He also has been a life-long stamp collector and enjoys repair and collecting of vintage toy electric trains.
