OverviewTurley the Turkey is a story about a turkey who had a rough life in his early years and seemed to be attracting a series of bad luck towards him. He strung them along into adulthood. He lived with his grandparents, who raised him to a certain stage, then he somehow found himself alone, with several insecurities about his body, image, and pocket. He yearns for a romantic partner to spend the rest of his life with but with all his insecurities, he fails to pursue that idea and ends up with self-loath and pity. The ghosts from the past pop up to torment him, but he eventually finds a way of dealing with them, which sees him in therapy for both of his time. He gets to have a few happy moments, which don't last for long, but when he is low, they keep him going. Although hidden in the story, Turley's strength is seen in his ability to hold onto life even when he thinks he has nothing to live for. Throughout the story, the theme of trauma is widely emphasized to acknowledge and pay homage to those who have experienced trauma before and are struggling to come to terms with it or live with the consequences of being a survivor.
