OverviewThis picture book is cleverly composed of several rhyming and silly tales. The tales are mostly told by the characters, Jack, Jill, Ted, and the turkeys of Turkey Hill. The books layout is similar to a simplified chapter book capturing the different voices of its characters. Many colorful synonyms such as horse-feathers, poppycock, dribble, and hogwash are spued about by turkey talking birds. The exceptional illustrations mimic collages that remind you that the pictures and tales are assembled fiction in the most creative way. As a Language Arts teacher, I must say this book is great for children to understand synonyms while having sense of humor. Great fun! L.H. 2. Turkey Tales of Jack and Jill and Ted and Bill, is a perfect choice as a pre-chapter book for kids. Something in the middle between a picture book and a chapter book. There aren't many of these types. L.S. 3. I really enjoyed the illustrations. More specifically, the fact that they appear to be under construction as the story progresses. Glue bottles, scissors, paper scraps, trim, etc. are included. Different to me indeed and serving as a visual metaphor to how a story or a book is made. Love it! A.A.C. 4. Amusing fiction - Yes! Love the images of Turkey Hill, Porcupine Hill, alphabet eating Ted and the song nearing the end of the book, ""Turkey Tails to You"". G.R. 5. Love the turkey talking birds, their names and their words. ""Baloney,"" said Bonnie.""Poppycock,"" said Connie. ""Ignorant,"" said Igor. ""Humbug,"" said Hector. ""Balderdash,"" said Birdie. ""Claptrap,"" said Carrie. ""Ridiculous,"" said Don. ""Nonsense,"" said Juan. ""Drivel,"" said Del. ""Moonshine,"" said Mel. ""Hogwash,"" said Feather.
