This is a major bibliographic reference work that includes virtually all key espionage operatives and organizations as well as all governmental organizations that gathered, disseminated and reviewed espionage material. Using the most recent archival and reference research methods, the Mahoneys have produced a work that discusses aspects of propaganda, counter propaganda and paramilitary action since these have often gone hand in hand in Ireland. Since Ireland has famously produced great spies as well as gre at imposters, the authors have carefully delineated between the two in both fact and tradition. In cases were possible links exist between double and triple agents(as in the case of Michael Collins) the researchers have gone out of there way to produce a complete picture while leaving the door open for new information. Over 150 individuals are discussed including British, Spanish, French, Italian, Scots German, and Russian agents and operatives. Harry T. Mahoney was a senior FBI and later CIA operations executive until his retirement. He and his wife are authors of over 6 books.
