He is the author of various books on (church) history, practical theology, and psychology and lectured part-time at two universities. Prestige Awards named him psychologist of the year for 2024/25. He also served as a part-time chaplain in the South African Army during 1978-1994 and participated in the Border War in Namibia on five shorter occasions.
