Overview

"Whether your outlook is positive or negative towards Mr. Trump, there is no escaping the parenting challenge posed by the highly charged, intensely emotional debate over his presidency. The tension of the opposing views permeates every domain of our society, including our schools and playgrounds. This state of our nation creates a tremendous issue for parents no matter which side of the fence they may be on... how do you approach this divisive subject with your child and present it to him or her in a way that is responsible and appropriate? How do you avoid introducing unnecessary negativity or the fostering of unsettling uncertainty, especially about the most revered office in our land? There's an answer. Ian Stevenson's children's book, ""Trump for Kids... The President, Freedom, and You"" provides parents with a wonderfully direct, unbiased tool for navigating the torrid waters swirling in America today around the new Trump presidency. Humorously illustrated with kid-friendly doodles, Stevenson's book takes a serious but non-threatening look at the controversy in the light of what America stands for first: freedom. It positions our raging debate over all things Trump in the positive context of our freedom to believe what we choose and to support who and what we believe. This book is not pro-Trump or anti-Trump; it's pro-freedom and delivers a wonderful message about America without dodging the debate that our nation faces, and it does so in a manner entirely appropriate for kids. In ""Trump for Kids... The President, Freedom and You"", author Ian Stevenson gives you, the parent, a fabulous vehicle to put into perspective and address with your young child our nation's inflamed social environment, fiery politics, and intentionally unpredictable new president. This book is targeted for children aged 5 thru 9, but like a good episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, it has appeal... in addition to a timely message on freedom in America... for all ages. Author Information

"an Stevenson's education was broad, classical and largely scientific; as such, his own self-imposed struggle in writing is to achieve portraiture and feeling, as opposed to dry description. During his writing Stevenson deliberately holds dear the adage that ""Every picture tells a story"", and thus his goal is to paint those storytelling pictures in his reader's mind and to stir his characters' feelings in his reader's heart with his words. His beliefs about language development and the potential of early stage learning and its long-term beneficial effects on the ultimate self-direction and self-confidence of any child are based on his own outlooks and experience. Here's the ultimate take-away that motivates Stevenson's efforts to develop fun, exceptional stories that will encourage parents to foster their child's development of vocabulary, and thinking: Stevenson believes that our children's potential is often much greater than we may conceive, even with very progressive outlooks. He believes we should actively question our own parental assumptions regarding what a child may be absorbing or relating, and that we should be erring on the side that our assumptions may be self-limiting, and that the mental skills of a child are forged much earlier in development than we have historically presumed. Stevenson's own experience bears out this suggested questioning of the extent to which we ""dumb down"" our language and the sophistication of the explanations we relate to our children, and motivates his efforts. We at Vocabulary Moose believe that an expanded vocabulary is inextricably linked to mental development and expanded thinking and that it is never too early to start exposure to language and the mental constructs such expanded language can support. We also believe that a superior vocabulary may be successfully developed via contextually rich storytelling with your child. We hope that reading Stevenson's stories together with your child will be both a happy, bonding experience and a positive, vocabulary-expanding experience that will forge a foundation for your child's self-directed thinking and self-confidence. Ian Stevenson is a dual citizen of the U.S. and U.K. He hunts for words with the Vocabulary Moose, and when he finds a new one he always tries to make lifelong friends with it!"
