Author Information

Bernard Marcus holds degrees from Rider College, Colgate University, State University of New York at Brockport, and Columbia Pacific University. He is a winner of the National Association of Biology Teachers Two-Year College Teaching Award and a past president of the Empire State Association of Two-Year College Biologists. Dr. Marcus has authored a number of professional articles in Environmental Science and Environmental Education, and he wrote the Malaria module of the Chelsea House series on Deadly Diseases and Epidemics. His interest in tropical forests developed late in his career, but was able to study in and lead student trips to Central America several times before retiring. Dr. Marcus now lives near Syracuse, NY, where he divides his time among writing, fishing, model railroading, and his grandchildren.
