this book [is] THE essential reference for all owners and enthusiasts. Nacelle

"this book [is] THE essential reference for all owners and enthusiasts. Nacelle Harry Woolridge's ""Triumph Speed Twin & Thunderbird Bible"" is probably the one book an owner, would-be owner, or fan of these classic Triumph models should have, if they have no others. UltimateMotorcycling.com. This 144-page softcover book is part of Veloce's Classic Reprint series. It was first published 2004 and the author worked for Triumph for about 30 years so he knows his stuff. The book covers the 5T and 6T bikes from 1938-66 and I doubt there's anything it misses in terms of their development and specifications. It also includes reprints of road tests from when the bikes were new and a nice selection of adverts and brochures to go with he photos. Just a couple of examples of its thoroughness: The section on the 1955 Speed twin has eight specs for the carburettor, including throttle needle and pilot settings! The description of the 1960 Thunderbird gives the size of the butted spokes on the rear wheel and specifies the changes made to the front hub styling plate. For owners and, particularly, restorer of these long-lived Triumph twins, the book is invaluable. This is a straight reprint, not a revised edition, but if you missed it the first time around, now's your chance to get hold of a copy. - Bike Rider Magazine. Anyone who drives or restores a Triumph-Twin from the 1930s to the 1960s, is looking forward to any in-depth information. Harry Woolridge's Reprint of the English-language book helps. The author was a guarantee and service manager in Meriden up to the close of the cooperative plant 1983. In this respect he is in very good shape. A detailed band with contemporary illustrations, which not only lovers of customs tools their fun were allowed. - www.sidecar-news.de."

Author Information

After National Service in the Royal Air Force Harry Woolridge applied for a job in the Service Department at the Triumph Engineering Company, and was lucky enough to be selected. Thus began a working relationship with Triumph and its motorcycles that would last thirty years: an experience Harry says he would not have missed at any price. After a few years in the Service Department, Harry joined the team in the Experimental department, until he was promoted to the position of Assistant Quality Control Manager. Later, in a reshuffle of titles, he became Inspection Foreman for Motorcycle Assembly and Production Development. With the formation of the Meriden Co-operative, Harry served as Warranty/Service Manager until the factory closed in 1983. He is also the author of The Triumph Trophy Bible, published with Veloce.
