Overview

"Advent through Epiphany is the season for Christians to remember and rehearse ""the coming of the Lord."" In this guide, we provide daily scripture, prayer, and reflection to prepare for the birth of Jesus as God's embodiment, or incarnation, among us. Our Advent triptych is built upon three ideas in the Christmas story: Preparation, Celebration, and Migration. We'll explore these through Matthew's gospel through dreams and Christ's genealogy. In addition, we'll look at some of Luke's gospel for good measure. Together we will explore each of these and how they impact Advent in different yet interlocking ways. Together, we are called to deepen our discipleship, profoundly involving God in our inner and outer lives, what John Wesley called ""piety"" and ""mercy.""We invite you to connect with our core ministry, FastPrayGive.org, where you may become part of a year-round weekly discipline and join a growing movement to end hunger by grace."

Reviews

It is so good to be reminded of our Wesleyan Heritage and to delve into scripture with that lens. I appreciate the daily opportunity to reflect and pray as a disciple called to social holiness, loving our neighbors sacrificially after the example of Christ. -Rev. Dr. Jean Hawxhurst, Ecumenical Staff Officer, The Council of Bishops, The United Methodist Church Three Days in ... The genuineness of the reflections and the prayers are invitations to self-empty and to grab the throne chair and yet they're gentle and so very real - Rev. Jim Harry, St. Paul United Methodist, Goldsboro, NC
