OverviewHalloween had been a long-standing tradition in America. Just as children enjoyed trooping up to their neighbors' houses to sing carols on Christmas in many countries, and most kindly adults hoped they did, similar groups of children, asking, on Halloween, ""Trick or Treat?"" were welcome visitors. Such things seem not merely ""the Past as it Was, just 50 years ago"", but Timeless Memories that one can recall from people past middle age or those old men and women whom few really care about now. They also seem to send a message, through recollections of culture and joys of society no more there, that they are Memories No More Real than stories of Dr Frankenstein's monster or Dracula the Vampire. Memories that some generations still live on, and sit with them at breakfast tables or at dinner, or when a ""modern way of celebrating"" comes along. Experiences still part of their lives in the mind, yet ""Gone Permanently"". Like associations of ""Die Hard"" movies and Christmas: a ghost that toys with Love as it Could Still Live, but asks: ""Trick or Treat""?
