Overview

The heart is an important part of the circulatory system. The heart is located in the chest cavity, between the left and right lungs. When the heart contracts, its size will be the size of a person's fist. Chest bones, ribs and cartilages are located near the front and upper surfaces of the heart. The upper two cavities are atria, which are divided into left and right atrium by the atrium wall. Also, the two lower cavities, which are called ventricles, are divided into left and right ventricles by the ventricular wall.
