Author Information

Fred Morris has stood at the forefront of the mental health industry for over fifty years; dedicating his life to advocating, educating, and treating those who suffer with mental illness. His initial introduction to the field began at the Veteran's Administration Regional Psychiatric Center in 1955. A native of Battle Creek, Michigan, he received an Associate Degree in nursing from Kellogg Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in general university studies, and a Master of Arts in mental health counseling from Western Michigan University. Mr. Morris possesses a wealth of experience in acute mental health pathology as a result of his work as a nurse assistant, registered nurse, and Warrant Officer with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps. Mr. Morris has provided direct care to the developmentally disabled, served as a recipient rights officer, founded a self-help group and remained a highly sought after mental health professional until his retirement in 1994. His e-book Smart Change/Durable Outcomes published in 2014, examined the efficacy of bundling treatment modalities to facilitate better health outcomes. Treating a Broken Brain focuses on the bio/chemical underpinnings of mental illness, the characteristics associated with the disorder and the tragic implications that occur when it goes untreated. Through the collaborative efforts of practitioners, patients, and care givers recovery is possible. Deeper awareness improves results.
