Author Information

"Alan Culler was a consultant for thirty-seven years. He worked for five firms and for himself as an independent, in partnerships, and networks. He specialized in ""helping leaders make strategic change.""Alan Culler studied theatre as an undergraduate. There he learned to observe people in order to portray them. That skill turned out to be quite useful later as Alan became an organizational change consultant. Alan went to work as a booking agent for celebrity speakers. He learned to sell, which fed him as a consultant. He also learned that ""the famous and powerful are just people who want you to listen and help if you can."" This turned out to be useful later when talking to CEOs.With no roadmap, Alan decided to become a consultant and went to the London Business School. He worked for five firms: Harbridge House (acquired by Coopers & Lybrand, now part of PwC); The Forum Corporation (now Achieve Forum, part of Korn Ferry); HRI, (Dr. George Litwin's firm, which had the British Airways contract, was acquired by Forum to form Strategic Action Services); Gemini Consulting (now Capgemini Group); Katzenbach Partners (McKinsey spin-off, startup, ultimately acquired by Booz & Company, Strategy &, now a part of PwC).Alan Culler first became an independent consultant in 1987 and again in 2003, ultimately spending twenty-three years of his thirty-seven-year consulting career working for himself in a variety of structures - sole proprietor, partnership Morton Culler & Company, and Results-Alliance LLC, a confederated network of independent consultants. In 2018 Alan retired to write stories and songs. Forthcoming books are Change Leader? Who, Me? and Wisdom from Unusual Places. Alan Culler now lives in New Jersey with his wife Billie and black Labrador Retriever, Pip. They take every opportunity to see their five adult children and five grandchildren."
