OverviewThe world does not end with a zombie, vampire, or werewolf uprising. Evil wizards do not cast their spells. Rampaging robots do not takeover, nor do disagreeable aliens invade. We are human beings. We need no help in bringing about the Apocalypse. The travelers depicted in this novel journey through a time of unprecedented climate change. Rising earth temperatures melt arctic permafrost releasing long stored methane gas. The released methane reaches a level in the atmosphere that causes global temperatures to rapidly rise beyond all predictions.. The accelerated warming of the planet then triggers additional climate tipping points affecting ocean and atmospheric currents. Global weather becomes wildly unpredictable and dangerous. Mankind experiences extreme heat waves, violent and lethal storms, flooding, drought, massive dust storms, and mega fires. Nations fall and humankind faces annihilation from an increasingly hostile environment. The near future in which the characters exist and struggle for survival is an apocalyptic landscape of humankind's own making. 'Travelers On The Apocalypse Trail' presents an epic tale of post-apocalyptic struggle for survival. The novel creates a complete portrait of a ruined world devastated by mankind's own actions. The world that is portrayed, the characters, and the action that occurs follows in the tradition of 'The Stand', by Stephen King, 'The Road', by Cormac McCarthy, and 'The Postman' by David Brin. Table of ContentsReviews""Paul H Hughes crafts an engaging, startling story replete with circumstances akin to our own, filling the novel's pages with likable characters that are each just struggling to survive in different ways. Embedded within the story are lessons on adaptation, resilience, hope, and perseverance even when circumstances seem at their darkest - good lessons for modern times."" --Diane Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review, Editor, Donovan's Bookshelf, Editor, Bookwatch ""This novel paints a vivid picture of a world undone by humanity's own choices. The story is gripping, with survival and human resilience at the center, but what stands out most is how realistic the setting feels. The harsh climate disasters and the collapse of society are described in a way that lingers after reading. It's an unsettling but powerful take on the apocalypse."" ""This novel pulled me in right from the start. The writing is vivid and atmospheric, I could almost feel myself walking alongside the characters on the trail. It blends survival, suspense, and emotion in a way that keeps you hooked until the end. What I enjoyed most was how the story balances action with deeper reflections on humanity and resilience."" ""A chilling take on climate-driven apocalypse. Vivid, fast-paced, and thought-provoking-feels frighteningly possible."" ""Travelers On The Apocalypse Trail is a gripping, thought-provoking read. Vivid storytelling and deep themes kept me hooked-I felt transported alongside the characters on their powerful journey."" ""Travelers of the Apocalypse Trail is a gripping read that pulls you in from the very first chapter. The world-building is vivid and immersive, making you feel like you're right there alongside the characters as they face danger, survival, and unexpected twists.
