Traumas and Emotional Aftereffects on Victims of Childhood Sexual Abuse: Pathology of the Abuser

Overview

This book examines the effects that individuals who have experienced sexual abuse in their childhood face. To compile comprehensive information, searches were conducted across six databases, from which the most relevant studies for our investigation were selected. These studies investigate the various ways in which the consequences can appear, including physical, emotional, and psychological aspects. The findings indicate that a considerable number of these individuals may experience chronic mental disorders, and in the short term, they often suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. However, various limitations were noted in the reviewed studies, including the lack of representative samples, which complicates the potential to apply the findings to other sociocultural contexts. This research highlights the importance of early and appropriate intervention to address the long-term effects. The establishment of psychological and therapeutic support programs for victims is recommended, along with the urgent need for further research that encompasses various populations and contexts. Despite these limitations, it is concluded that being a victim of childhood sexual abuse leaves a lasting impact that endures throughout life. Child sexual abuse is a heartbreaking reality in a world defined by evil. The psychological, emotional, spiritual, and physical effects resulting from this abuse can last for a long time, even after it has ended. The Bible clearly states its opposition to child abuse and any form of sin and sexual deviations. Furthermore, it offers an optimistic perspective on healing and the ability to forgive. The issue of child sexual abuse is a genuine phenomenon that impacts children in various parts of the world. Understanding its definition and the associated legal repercussions enables us to safeguard the most vulnerable individuals. Prevention is based on education and action. As a community, it is essential that we dare to break the silence, acknowledge the warning signs, and take brave actions to protect children.
