OverviewThis text outlines a practical guide for nurses and healthcare providers to provide care for individuals with varying traumatic histories with an informed perspective. Consideration of trauma as an acute experience to one that can develop into a post-traumatic stress disorder are explored. Additionally, the biological, behavioral, historical and cumulative basis of trauma are discussed as well as the family’s role in generational trauma.
