OverviewI have compiled this book to help myself and others, to understand and cope with Alcoholism and Dementia which affects millions of people worldwide.I have written the poems from the perspective of my Mother; a Former Alcoholic and currently suffering with Early Onset Dementia. I have also written some of the poems from my own perspective, showing the effects that my Mother's illness has had on myself and our family.It has been a long, difficult journey for all of us that is ongoing. She began her poetry writing journey about 6 years ago, after finding an outlet to cope with her emotions dealing with a difficult childhood. Losing her Father at the age of 11 years old to Heart Disease. Throughout her childhood until her late teens, Hayley watched her Mother battle, Alcoholism. In 2005 Hayley's Mother was diagnosed with Early Onset Dementia at the young age of 46. Ever since Hayley and her family have been watching her Mother fight the daily struggles associated with Dementia. Hayley was encouraged to document her feelings in her poems to help her communicate the emotions that she hides behind her Bright Smile.
