Overview

Due to the unfortunate events of 2020, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) has become trendy without the public truly understanding the systemic and structural impacts that the discipline is intended to interrupt. DEI impacts myriad institutions. DEI is not a checkbox; it is soul work, and until we interrogate the ills and wills of our souls, the individual ""I"" will never transform the institution. Transformative Social Change in Organizations and Institutions: A DEI Perspective focuses on the transformative social change that DEI is meant to have within organizations and institutions. Covering topics such as DEI strategy, performance vs. impact, and workplace dynamics, this reference work is ideal for government officials, faith communities, doctoral students, educational agencies, researchers, and students.

Author Information

Jonathan Wesley is queer in every way and an interdisciplinary pracdivist (Practitioner-Academic-Artist-Activist) who loves to transform lives, one experience at a time. As a product of the impoverished inner-cities of Newark/Irvington, NJ, Wesley found a lifeline in the arts and faith spaces. The intersecting identities and evolution of life provoked him to pursue higher education upon completing high school. He holds a B.A. in Sociology, Master's degrees in Education, Religion and Public Life, Graduate Certificates in Pastoral Care/Counseling and Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies. Wesley lives by the mantra ""If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living will not be in vain"". He currently serves as the inaugural Managing Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer) for a well established non-profit organization in New York while also serving as a Pastor in all spaces where there are people in New Jersey. Wesley is also the best selling author of ""You Said One Thing: God Said Differently"" which addresses the reconciliation of sexuality and spirituality.
