Transformations in Mobility provides a panoramic overview of the changing mobility business landscape, helping transportation leaders and consultants make sense of the most important trends, challenges and opportunities impacting this sector. Drawing on exclusive interviews from thirty of the most important leaders, experts and financiers in transportation spanning all modes and from around the world, the book delves into the practical lessons learned from a demand, regulatory, strategic, technology and leadership perspective and explores the way mobility might evolve in the future. It looks into pressing issues such as fragmentation of demand in mobility, technological disruptions impacting the sector and how far it is possible to decarbonize transport when it is the world's second biggest source of emissions. Drawing on cutting-edge insights, this book explores mobility's shift from supply-driven to demand-driven growth, the role of regulation and standards, digitalization, the emergence of cross-industry coalitions and the decarbonization agenda and its impact on future transport shares. It offers insightful stories and lessons learned from some of the world's leading industry experts, including some never heard before. Reviews

"""A fascinating look at what is possible for the future of mobility when we balance innovation, travel and work trends and respect for the climate."" * Martine Ferland, Chief Executive Officer, Mercer * ""The mobility industry has experienced numerous disruptions in the past decades and is poised to face even more in the future. It is a pleasure to witness Gilles Roucolle sharing his invaluable insights on this sector and offering his strategic perspectives. He has a profound understanding of the global transportation industry thanks to his long-standing passion for the sector and extensive relationships network. Transformations in Mobility will prove to be beneficial for industry players, advisors and anyone with an interest in the field of transport and mobility."" * Scott McDonald, Chief Executive, British Council * ""The North American freight rail industry has been under siege lately. Gilles Roucolle presents a terrific counter to this in his exhaustive and illuminating look at the overall mobility sector. In drilling down into rail freight, he shows the importance of long-term planning and the ability to spend capital, in contrast to the stop-and-go nature that has characterized US passenger and especially potential high-speed rail. In reading this, perhaps a better future can be envisioned."" * Anthony Hatch, Leading analyst of Class I Railroads in North America * ""Transformations in Mobility delivers a remarkable and comprehensive exploration of mega-trends impacting the transport sector. While Gilles Roucolle rightfully emphasizes the significance of decarbonizing transport as a major growth opportunity for the rail industry, what truly distinguishes this book is not just his wealth of experience but also the insights and perspective provided by 30 of the most influential leaders in mobility. This combination makes it a must-read for anyone interested in this field."" * Lilian Leroux, Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer, Wabtec Corporation *"
