Overview

Banished to the desert planet Eridania and serving a life-sentence for thievery, Barrabas Madzimure toils underground. Slaves to the Church and the will of its prophet Jovian, a charismatic figurehead who rules everything on Earth, Madzimure and his cohorts dig endlessly for the substance eridanium-the source of Jovian's alien power. But Madzimure can no longer keep his secret. Facing execution, he claims to have once been Thaniel Kilraven, transferred decades earlier into the body of Madzimure against his will. Under interrogation the stories of both are revealed, and we learn the terrible fate of the long thought dead Kilraven family. Madzimure escapes and sets a course for home, knowing the only way to save what's left of the Kilraven name and confront his destiny-and Jovian-is by facing them head on. But the horrific truths he finds on Earth might be the undoing of all mankind. What if everything humanity believed about civilization was a lie? Will anything or anyone be left from the fallout? The story of a grim personal mission, Transference takes the reader on a heart-racing journey through rebellion, revenge, and revelation by way of the soul's search for identity.

Reviews

Transference is a debut gem in the sci-fi genre. Watching this narrative play out is thrilling, but also eye-opening, as Keaton is masterful in suspense-building and he pays close attention to genuine character development for each character in the story. The small details bring this world alive, engaging readers immediately with clever tech and societal nuances. This is a book that will make readers think, but is also rife with unexpected twists to please those readers seeking an astral escape. -Self-Publishing Review, 1/2 Transference explains the purpose of human suffering and the essential nature of hope in the struggle that is life. Keaton creates a science fiction masterwork that explores human identity and the dignity of the person without unnecessary moralizing. -IndieReader.com, Transference by B.T. Keaton is quite the accomplishment... something magnificent is attempted and then successfully pulled off. I respect a person that aims for the moon and then arrives there in spectacular fashion. -Ray Simmons, Readers Favorite, Keaton's debut novel combines a thrilling yet fundamentally human story about a man searching for his family, with a sobering exploration of how a radical technology can be exploited by those in power for their own gain. -Alex Mitchell, The Bookbag.co.uk, An exciting, intellectually stimulating science-fiction thriller which also connects emotionally, Transference intertwines powerful ideas, highly visual settings and a brilliantly conceived plot. - BookViral (recommends the book without reservation)
