Hi, I'm Max Matthews, and training dogs, specifically Service Dogs, is my life and passion. I have been training Service Dogs for over 30 years, and I put all of my knowledge and experience into this book - it is the culmination of all that I know. I am retiring from my career as a Service Dog Trainer to focus on creating books and other digital content to help consolidate my lifetime of Service Dog knowledge and insights into formats that can reach more people. Very comprehensive, step by step book. I have a registered service dog that has had some of his training. It costs $2800 for two weeks. He is 8 months old and will need 4 more sessions in the next year and a half. I bought this book to help me supplement some of his training. I especially like the chapter on preparing him for the test. I am using that as a guide for my training. We have been working on going to big box stores and pet stores.He is near perfect with those outings. We have not tried restaurants yet, but that will be our next challenge. When his vest goes on, he knows it is time to work. I keep this book out and look at it each day. I am hoping to be able to save some money by cutting out at least one of his two week training camps. This is a great book for those of us who need a service dog but cant afford to get one or want a specific breed. I believe that the bonding of having the puppy from the beginning is also of great importance so I would recommend this book!
