Author Information

C. R. Macchi, Ph.D. was trained as a systems therapist receiving his doctorate in family therapy from Kansas State University. He is currently with Arizona State University as a clinical assistant professor and internship coordinator with the behavioral health doctoral program. Dr. Macchi’s research and clinical work have addressed the impact of health behavior change and chronic disease management on a patient’s relationships. Currently Dr. Macchi is part of a research team that is developing a validated measure for determining clinic-level integration. His work has involved multidisciplinary teams interested in collaboration and integration of medical and behavioral health. Rodger Kessler is a health psychologist practicing in family medicine for over 20 years. He is an assistant professor in the department of family medicine and the center for translational science at the University of Vermont, and become an associate clinical professor in the doctoral program in Behavioral Health at Arizona State University. He has designed, implemented, and evaluated the effectiveness of many integration projects in family medicine, internal medicine, and subspecialties, as well as three integrated Vermont Fletcher Allen Health Care Patient Centered Medical Home MH collaborative practices and is beginning a 30 project national project to evaluate the outcomes of different models of integration. He is Project Director of a recent SAMHSA funded multi department initiative training medical residents, nurses and social work students in team based integrated care. He is a senior editor of Translational Behavioral Medicine: Practice, Policy, Research for which he edited a special edition on the patient centered medical home.
