Trail of Blood

Overview

Trail of Blood It began with a gunshot, ringing through the derelict building, a wound, blood pooling beneath her, that was meant to take Anne out of the equation. Anne Sullivan, beautiful and smart, has been a detective specializing in ciphers and codes in the Ashborne Police Department for a while now, taking down serial killers. Ashborne has a problem -- women going missing -- and the rumors are that there is a human trafficking ring operating under the radar. A connection so far is a random code sent via text to their phones just before they go missing. Anne suspects the missing women are somehow connected to the wealthy and influential Thomas family, led by the matriarch, Cindy Thomas, whose son Josh has a habit of getting into trouble and quickly swept under the carpet by his mothers friends in high positions within law enforcement and government. She feigns the ever-loving mother or is it for the family's legacy. Josh will take her place in power when she no longer can. The links take her to Oakwood, a small town where the Thomas' family has a country home and where Anne's best friend Jill lives a peaceful life with nosy neighbors. When she arrives there, she is surprised to find they have had their own dumped body of a woman in an old mill owned by the Thomas' and a missing girl. Everyone thinks she is there to investigate, even the lead detective from Carver City, Matteo Garcia. In Oakwood, Anne also finds a handsome doctor who she finds irresistible, the surprise that her friend Jill is dating Josh Thomas, and a legend in the deep forest surrounding Oakwood.. She sees the opportunity. To infiltrate the world of the elite and maybe find love.
