Overview
Traditionelles Wissen indigener und lokaler Gemeinschaften hat zunehmend Beachtung gefunden, beispielsweise in der Pharmaindustrie, die sich mit Hilfe des traditionellen Wissens Hinweise auf neue Wirkstoffe erhofft. Während auf Seiten der Pharmaunternehmen am Ende eines Innovationsprozesses unter Umständen beträchtliche Gewinne stehen, gehen indigene Gemeinschaften, die am Anfang des Innovationsprozesses möglicherweise entscheidende Hinweise geliefert haben, in der Regel leer aus. Seit fast einem Jahrzehnt wird eine teilweise hitzige politische Diskussion darüber geführt, wie diesem Missstand abzuhelfen ist und die betroffenen Gemeinschaften Kontrolle über die Nutzung ihres Wissens ausüben sowie an Gewinnen beteiligt werden können. Ziel der vorliegenden Untersuchung ist es, diese Diskussion zu systematisieren und einzelne Ansätze zum Schutz traditionellen Wissens zu überprüfen.
