Author Information

Kazuko Koizumi was born in 1933 in Tokyo. She received Ph D in Engineering from the University of Tokyo. She has been a leading scholar of traditional furniture for decades, almost single-handedly reviving the study of these traditional objects. She has written more than fifty books in Japanese and around forty research papers, and given more than one hundred and fifty lectures throughout Japan. She has been given awards for her efforts and contribution to establishing the study of traditional Japanese furniture, about which we had known only a little. She has also played an important role as a founder of museums that collect and exhibit valuable and rare traditional Japanese furniture.
