This volume examines and analyzes the specific methods employed by Burchard, in particular when compiling questions on repentance in the 19th book of his collection. It was this part of the Decretum that linked tradition and innovation in canon law with regard to the instrument of penitence. With his Decretum and in particular through the questions that he posed, Burchard attempted to make traditional canon law applicable in practice. Buch seiner Sammlung bediente: Dieser Teil des Dekrets verbindet Tradition und Innovation des kirchlichen Rechts im Hinblick auf das Instrument der Busse.
