OverviewSoftware development projects are often large projects involving several different areas. It is often the case that individual areas work with different requirements and test management tools. Traceability, i.e. linking test cases to requirements, works well within individual systems, but when this needs to be done across systems, limitations are often encountered. If this does not work out-of-the-box or if no suitable plugin exists, the problem can be solved programmatically. We explain how unit tests can be provided with traceability. In addition, the implementation of a programme that allows unit test traceability to be determined and integrated into a test management system will be discussed. The next step will show how this new information about unit tests can be used by test management. For this purpose, key figures will be determined and applied using an exemplary case study.
