Overview

The context of this book is marked by the emergence of tourism as a priority development sector in Senegal. The positive impact of tourism in rural areas with village camps has been noted, as it helps to improve local living conditions. Several sectors are impacted, including health, education, youth and social services. What's more, we now need to lay the foundations for a flourishing tourism sector by taking strong, realistic political initiatives. Indeed, we need to build a dynamic tourism industry, with national players as key players, who could intervene in the following areas: investment, mobility and consumption. Against this backdrop, a number of strong recommendations have been made. These include: development, improving the attractiveness of the poles thanks to the cultural factor, implementing an appropriate marketing approach, creating territorial brands reflecting the identity of each pole, taking initiatives to revive tourism in Casamance, opening a new ecotourism site on the Ziguinchor - Tanaf axis, etc.
