Torcido arado, narra la vida de dos hermanas, Viviana y Belonia, marcadas ambas por una peculiar tragedia durante la infancia que las une de manera singular. A través de una prosa reposada, pero de latente violencia en la que viven los personajes, Torcido arado recupera la intimidad de las historias de generaciones de habitantes de la región del sertão brasileño, descendientes de la esclavitud. La tragedia que une a las hermanas se proyecta a través del tiempo, casi como una maldición familiar. Crooked Plow tells the story of two sisters, Viviana and Belonia, both marked by a peculiar tragedy in childhood that binds them in a singular way. Through a measured prose--yet one charged with the latent violence in which the characters live--Crooked Plow recovers the intimacy of generational stories from the Brazilian sertão, descendants of slavery. The tragedy that unites the sisters projects itself through time, almost like a family curse.

Escritor y doctor en Estudios Étnicos y Africanos. Es autor de La oración del verdugo (2017), una colección de cuentos que fue seleccionada como finalista del Premio de Literatura Jabuti. Sus relatos han sido traducidos y publicados en revistas literarias de Francia y Estados Unidos. Su novela más reciente, Torcido arado, recibió el prestigioso premio LeYa en 2018, el Premio Jabuti a la Mejor Novela en 2020 y el Premio Océanos 2020 a la mejor novela en lengua portuguesa. A writer and PhD in Ethnic and African Studies. He is the author of The Executioner's Prayer (2017), a short-story collection shortlisted for the Jabuti Prize. His stories have been translated and published in literary journals in France and the United States. His most recent novel, Crooked Plow, received the prestigious LeYa Prize (2018), the Jabuti Prize for Best Novel (2020), and the Oceanos Prize for Best Portuguese-Language Novel (2020).
