Top Man is the fascinating, inspirational and informative autobiography of popular former footballer and radio journalist Geoff Twentyman. Brought up in the footballing heartlands on Merseyside, Geoff junior is the son of former Liverpool player and later legendary scout Geoff senior. He became a staple on the sports desk at BBC Radio Bristol, fronting the station’s sports shows. With a reputation for a no-nonsense approach with players and managers of both Bristol clubs, he went onto win the respect of the red half of the city, and continued to entertain with his brilliant sports coverage over the next three decades. Top Man is Geoff Twentyman’s life story, a quite remarkable journey – from pitch to gantry – and a testimony to a man who was able to unite blue and red in Bristol through their love of sport. This was never more evident than when he became the only Rovers man in history to receive a standing ovation from the crowd at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate on his retirement.
