OverviewThe basic premise: An industrial and consumer environment built upon ubiquitous connectivity, affordable and sophisticated computing, virtually unlimited data storage, and category convergences driven by the resulting information flows, will necessarily feature a different set of qualities (at every level) from those to which we had become accustomed in bygone times. The chapters of the book isolate different aspects of the environment described - such as Fundamentals, Methods, Cycles, Leverage, Diffusion, Concentration, and others - presenting them with an emphasis on finance, strategy, markets, valuation, and general economic issues impacting enterprise and individuals alike. Author's note: The languages of technology and finance are different, rooted in innovation and pragmatism respectively. Such different attitudes at times create gaps in understanding and market disorientation. What is often referred to as a bubble or burst, or the emergence of pre-IPO unicorns that may appear absurd, are manifestations of the same miscommunication. The scope of my book is to bridge the divide and articulate an analytic framework shaped by both perspectives.
