Tony Romo wasn't even offered a scholarship by a single Division I-A university coming out of high school. So how did he manage to become the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, and one of the hottest rising stars in the National Football League? It was through a combination of hard work, determination, and perseverance, along with a knack for making the most of his opportunities. Tony's rise to glory began at Eastern Illinois University, where he would eventually win the 2002 Walter Payton Award for the best offensive player in Division I-AA football. After being passed over in the NFL draft, he signed with the Cowboys as a free agent. Thus began a long and difficult quest to become the Cowboys' starting quarterback, a quest that was fulfilled in 2006. Since then Tony has become one of pro football's most exciting stars.
